Baycon 2012

Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-38

Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, Santa Clara, CA

Baycon is the annual gathering for Northern California science fiction and fantasy fans. It is one of the largest and longest-running SF cons, and has been a tradition for my family since it began. I’ll be appearing on discussion panels, signing books, and probably reading from the current work in progress, The Berserk’s Daughter, based on the saga of Hervor.

Trothmoot 2012

June 7-10th

Camp Netimus, Milford, PA

Trothmoot is the annual meeting of the Troth, the Asatru organization that has been so important to me for the past twenty years. This will be the Troth’s 25th anniversary, and the organization is working hard to make the event special. This is Pennsylvania Dutch territory, home of a living Germanic folk tradition. I will be presenting workshops telling stories about the (relatively) ancient days of modern heathenry .

Sirius Rising

July 15-22

Brushwood Folklore Center, Sherman, NY

Just confirmed that I will be at the Sirius Rising Festival at the beautiful Brushwood Folklore Center near Lake Erie in New York. We will take the opportunity to do an Oracular Intensive with workshops in the skills covered in The Way of the Oracle.

Mythcon

August 3-6

Clark Kerr Campus, UC Berkeley, CA

The Mythopoeic Society is a wonderful melange of scholars, writers, and readers of fantasy, focusing on but not limited to the work of J.R.R.Tolkien, C.S.Lewis, and Charles Williams. Having been a great fan of all three since I was in College, I was delighted to discover the Society when I was in grad school, soon after it was founded, and have been a member ever since. The Society has held several Mythcons at this site, which is comfortable and attractive. The program consists of papers and panels, with plays, concerts and other entertainments in the evenings. It’s small, but a lot of fun.

Goddess Festival 2012: Women and Trees

September 7-9

Santa Cruz Mountains

This is a women-only festival at a YMCA camp in the coastal forest. Participants sleep in cabins, and food is provided. Workshops and rituals. I’ll be talking about the significance and symbolism of trees in Northern European and other traditions and how to work with them.

Earth Medicine Alliance Conference

October 20-21, San Francisco

I’ve been invited to be a speaker at this year’s Earth Medicine Alliance Conference in San Francisco. The theme will be “Celebrating Ancestral Wisdom”.
